On Lake Coniston with a Sevylor Colorado Inflatable Canoe.
Autumn morning.
Schools launching at Brown How........
A move away from the professionals to a quieter spot to try out the Sevylor Colorado. Five minutes from the car boot to the shore......
.....and unpack.
Three minutes to inflate one side.....
......another three for the other and three for the bottom. About 15 minutes from boot to launch.
Underway with the Old Man of Coniston in my sights.......
Stop needed to adjust the seat and paddle. A skeg for directional stability comes with the Canoe. I didn't fit it for this tryout but it would handle better with it on, although it is very stable with very little danger of capsizing....that's a plus.
Across the lake, Peel Island ......
.......and Beacon Fell.
School groups landing on the island.
Over the island to the Coniston Fells.....
Looking north up the length of the lake to The Fairfield Horseshoe.
The southern end of the lake near Nibthwaite......
Dow Crag and Buck Pike.
The huge bulk of Wetherlam.
The Yewdale Fells.
Brantwood, John Ruskin's former home, now a charitable trust and museum.
The views from the terrace......
....and the patio cafe.
A proper rowing boat in the old coach house.....
.......and an old coach.
The views towards Coniston Village, the Gondola.....
.......and Pier....
Steam Yacht Gondola.....
