Between Skelwith Bridge and Elterwater Village.
Early morning by the outflow from Elterwater into the Upper Brathay ........
Sunlight through the wings of a Buzzard looking for breakfast.
The Woodburn Bridge across the River Brathay just above Skelwith Force........
......opened in 2006 and costing nearly 1/4 million pounds...it was named after a local man Trevor Woodburn. It links the footpaths on both banks of the Brathay, also Cycle Route 37.
Unusual sounds from the river bank.......
.....probably banned from the bedroom.
The gateway through to Elterwater Common.......
...which is part of the Cumbria Way.....
.....Langdale Pikes in the distance.
The pools upriver from Skelwith force.....
A fleeting glimpse of a kingfisher.....
...and a outing of Mergansers
Looking over the Skelwith Bridge - Elterwater footpath and the Brathay to Park Fell.....
....and over Elterwater to Lingmoor, the Eltermere Hotel in the middle ground. It is one of the Lake District's smaller lakes at 1/2 mile long, 1/4 mile across and about 15ft deep. Elter is a Norse word meaning Swan, therefore Swan Lake.
The evening light......
....on the Brathay....
....and Elterwater.
