A walk around Tarn Hows on New Year's day. Very cold and cloudy with an unusual tint to the late afternoon light; a temperature inversion and some early sunshine reducing the sharp frost on some higher ground.

From the disabled car park...the Tarn and the Langdale Pikes.
Hint of sunset through the clouds.
Belted Galloways enjoying the defrosted grass.......

Footpath down to Hawkshead, Coniston and Boon Crag.
The Scott Memorial......on the left.
From the Scott Memorial......Wetherlam.....
....the Tarn and Black Fell.
One of the islands on the Tarn.
After a week of sub zero temperatures, the ice is a couple of inches thick in places.
