Low Park and Colwith

Twenty four photographs taken walking along part of the Cumbria Way - from Low Park near Skelwith Bridge, to High Park overlooking Little Langdale, via Colwith Force.

Low Park

Looking North across Low Park towards patches of sunlight on Great Tongue and Great Rigg from near Park Farm.

Low Park

From the footpath to Park Farm...the summit of Loughrigg in the clouds.

Elterwater Park

Park Farm......now Elterwater Park Guest House.

Elterwater Park

Elterwater Park

The barn still in use by other farms.

Elterwater Park

The unusual alphabet stone in the barn wall. Local knowledge says that it was an apprentice stone, a teaching aid for Stone Masons.

Colwith

Looking West over Colwith towards Blake Rigg and Pike of Blisco.

Used to be Low Park Farm.....

.......now a private house.

Low Colwith.....

....was also a farm - now a private house.

The footpath up through Tongue Intake Plantation to Colwith Force.

Colwith Force. Force is the right name for waterfalls in the Lakes at the moment after a very wet summer.

Taken at 1/60th second.......

.....and in comparison, a slow exposure of 1/20th second for a different effect.

The old pump house. Notice the top of the access ladder blanked off.....probably more of a challenge than a restriction of access.

The upper reaches of the falls.

Always under surveillance...even in the woods.

Coming out of the woods into the fields at High Park. Looking over to Lingmoor Fell in shadow.

Views across to Kentmere.

Little Langdale...Lingmoor Fell in the sunshine. The Cumbria Way turns south here, down to its start point in Ulverston town centre.
