A lovely low lying fell just south of Skelwith Bridge, grid ref 341023. Barely mentioned even by Wainright, and then only as part of Black Fell. It's not that easy to get to the summit. It's either a very rough and indistinct trudge from Black Fell or an obscure, unsigned path from the roadway between Bull Close and the Drunken Duck - but the views are worth the effort.
The most common view of Park Fell is from the Brathay Valley on the journey between Ambleside and the Langdales....the backdrop, Wetherlam.
......and from Loughrigg Tarn.
The lower slopes of Park Fell through the morning mist.
......passing the summit cairn on Black Crag.
The summit cairn of Park Fell just visible in the distance.
.......and Windermere to the east.
.....and smaller wonders of nature.
Strange but true - the summit cairn is set a lot lower down from the top....perhaps it should be called almost at the summit cairn.
From the top......Skelwith Bridge appearing through the mist.
Elterwater and the upper reaches of the River Brathay.....the popular footpath between Skelwith Bridge and Elterwater Village clearly visible.
High Arnside Farm.
